Your existing agent subscription and any infrastructure you run are separate. How usage is charged ↓
What you’re paying for
The engine runs locally. Cloud features add another layer.
Understand the code in front of you
The free engine indexes your workspace, exposes its structure and relationships, and lets your agent search and read exactly what it needs. Local search and reads don’t consume a cloud allowance.
Find and explain with cloud models
Paid plans add cloud embeddings and reranking to identify relevant code, plus inference for cited explanations and concept validation. Your own agent can still reason over locally retrieved code on Free.
Bring the context to other agents
Pro and Enterprise add uplink. A product question from a phone, a Slack bot, or a reviewing agent can reach a shared host with your repositories and captured knowledge. How uplink works →
Usage, explained
Know what goes on the bill.
RepoQL cloud usage counts the tokens its own models process. Your coding agent’s tokens are billed by your agent provider.
Personal use has a fixed subscription
Individual and Pro give each person a cloud pool. Embedding, reranking, and inference draw from the same pool.
Individual
200M tokens / month
Pro, per seat
400M tokens / month
These are continuous refill rates, not an allowance released on billing day. Each pool holds up to three days of usage: 20M tokens on Individual or 40M on Pro.
Heavy sustained use slows cloud requests as the pool runs low. It doesn’t add a personal overage charge. You can see the remaining pool in your account.
Shared hosts and Enterprise use metered cloud
On Pro, cloud requests made with CI or uplink instance credentials are billed separately from personal pools. On Enterprise, all cloud usage is metered.

Embedding

Reranking

Inference counts input and output tokens. Embedding and reranking count the tokens processed by those services. Local indexing, reads, and queries do not incur these charges.

Before you choose
What happens after the Individual trial?
You get seven days of cloud access without adding a card. Add a payment method to continue on Individual; otherwise the trial ends and you continue on Free. Your repository files and captured concepts remain yours.
How do I choose between Individual and Pro?
Choose Individual for your own cloud use. Pro gives each team member twice the personal refill rate, shared billing, and one uplink host for agents that need shared context. A Pro seat’s allowance belongs to that person; it is not pooled across the team.
Does uplink include a hosted server?
You run the RepoQL host on your infrastructure. The plan includes access through uplink: one host on Pro, twenty on Enterprise. Your compute and storage costs are separate.
Does my code leave my machine?
The index stays on your host. Cloud features send selected content for processing, and uplink relays tool requests and results to authorised agents. Read what leaves, when, and how to control it.
Can I try RepoQL before choosing a paid plan?
Yes. Start a seven-day Individual trial and bring a real question about your code. You’ll get the local engine plus cloud search, cited answers, and concept validation. No card is required, and you can continue on Free if you don’t subscribe. Start your free trial →
